Sherlock Holmes meets Aare Gorge, Reichenbach Falls and Interlaken

This private full-day tour takes you along Lake Thun and Lake Brienz
to Meiringen in the Bernese Oberland. Our easy and safe hike through
the impressive gorge over footbridges and through tunnels begins there.

With its constantly cool temperatures, the Aare Gorge is an ideal place
for natural refreshment on hot and sunny days. In rainy weather, the gorge impresses with its mysticism and the sometimes huge masses of water. The all-weather destination is open from the beginning of April to 1 November. We take the train back to our starting point, where we have lunch in a small, cosy restaurant right on the banks of the Aare river. Afterwards we continue to the valley station of the Reichenbach Falls Railway, which has been running to the mighty 110-metre-high Reichenbach Falls since 1899.

The nostalgic railway with its original 24-seater carriages takes us up over the roaring stream, the washed-out gorge and bridges in just a few minutes. Not far from the top station, three viewing terraces offer breathtaking views of the waterfall. For Sherlock Holmes fans, this excursion is almost a must. This is where the famous detective challenged his arch-enemy Professor Moriarty to a fight - the fierce scuffle ended with a plunge into the depths. Right into this waterfall!

On our way home we will stop in Interlaken to end the eventful day with some shopping or a drink on the Harder Kulm ("Top of Interlaken").
